No polished pitch needed · No payment until you choose to book
We treat £3,000 as a planning ambition: it affects who you serve, what you charge and how delivery works alongside a job.
The build still covers offer, brand, website, journey and payments, typically 4–6 weeks after direction is approved. It is not a guarantee of that income.
£3,000 a month extra is not three times the £1,000 problem. It is a different buyer. At this level you are usually asking a director, a funded operator, or a professional firm to write a cheque that hurts a little. Three packages at £1,000, or two at £1,500, or one intense £3,000 engagement you can actually finish beside a job: those are architectures. Thirty clients at £100 is a factory you will not staff after hours. One vague ‘retainer’ with no scope is how £3,000 becomes eighty hours and a row. We use the figure to choose concentration, not to promise a standing order.
The objection is ‘nobody will pay that’. Some buyers will not. They are not your buyer for this search. The people who will pay £1,000 for a sprint already spend that on a contractor, a missed quarter, or a recruiter. Your job is to look like a cheaper, clearer alternative to that pain—not like a hobbyist who rounded up from £250. What not to do is take the £1,000 menu and multiply. Proof, sales cycle and delivery all thicken. The Launch Plan should decide whether you have a budgeted buyer at all. If you do not, we will tell you to aim lower rather than theatre a premium brand.
£3,000 extra is a commercial design problem
You need a buyer with budget, a tighter offer, and a business that can take demand without swallowing your week. We design for that before we build the website.
Idea or no idea — then a proper launch
If you already have a direction, we pressure-test it. If you do not, we develop one. Then we build the operational business. Begin your launch profile to start.
The £3,000 side-business price architecture
Start from concentration. Three £1,000 sprints a month is a serious employed load if each sprint is a week of evenings. Two £1,500 engagements with a hard stop can be kinder. A single £3,000 project only works if it has a written end and does not sprawl into your day job. Write the hours per package before you write the tagline. If a £1,000 sprint needs twenty-five hours, you do not have a £3,000 side business. You have a resignation timeline. Cut the deliverable until the hours fit, or drop the ambition.
Price against the buyer’s alternative, not against your salary divided by twenty. A director already paying a day-rate consultant £800 is not shocked by a £1,200 packaged diagnostic with a written artefact. They are shocked by vagueness. Put the artefact in the name. Hide nothing about timing. We will not help you ‘value-based price’ your way around a package you cannot describe. Architecture first. Poetry later. None of the arithmetic is a guarantee of three yeses.
Why £3,000 extra needs a budgeted buyer
A budgeted buyer has already spent money on the class of problem. They have a card, a cost centre, or a habit of hiring help. A friend who ‘might be interested’ is not budgeted. A consumer who wants a £49 tip-sheet is not budgeted for this page. If your only warm conversations are peers on your salary, you do not yet have a £3,000 architecture. You have a £1,000 conversation wearing bigger shoes. We will push you to name organisations, not vibes: manufacturers with a quality hold, clinics with a CQC action, agencies drowning in delivery.
Worked situation: a quality engineer wants extra income. Selling ‘quality advice’ to mates in the pub will not hit £3,000. Selling a two-week nonconformance sprint to a small plant that already pays for agency inspectors might. Same professional, different wallet. If you cannot name where the wallet sits, do not spend the build on a premium aesthetic. Spend the Launch Plan on whether the wallet exists. If it does not, a honest £1,000 extra model is better than a deserted £3,000 brand.
Delivery load at £3,000 a month on the side
Dearer work is denser. Buyers at this level expect a sharper artefact, a faster reply than a £250 client, and fewer excuses about your day job. That does not mean 11am availability. It does mean you cannot disappear for ten days. Design buffers: written updates, a midpoint review, a hard revision cap. Cap concurrent sprints at two if you are employed. The third concurrent £1,000 client is how quality dips and the day job notices. A side business at £3,000 extra is still a side business. It is not a stealth consultancy with a salary attached.
What not to do: hire subcontractors on day one to carry the load. You do not yet have a method stable enough to brief them, and the margin will vanish. Do not sell a twelve-month retainer to hit the monthly number; you will resent it and they will expand the scope. Sell bounded sprints until you know the work. We build the presence and the journey so a budgeted buyer can enquire or pay. You still carry the delivery. If you cannot carry two sprints, we should not pretend the architecture is £3,000.
When a £3,000 side business should stay a service, not a product
At this ambition people panic and invent a product: a course, a template pack, a piece of software. Those can wait. A budgeted buyer at £1,000-plus is usually buying judgement in a tight window, not a login. Productising too early is how you spend six months building files nobody asked to purchase. Stay a service until you have repeated the sprint enough to know which parts are identical. Then, maybe, productise a slice. Not as the launch. As a later efficiency.
Do not use ‘passive’ as a way to dodge delivery at this price. Nobody pays £1,000 for a set-and-forget PDF from a stranger with no proof. The honest path is a named sprint, a live site, a journey that can take a card or a serious enquiry, typically four to six weeks after you approve direction. £3,000 extra remains a planning ambition. If the service cannot be delivered beside employment, the answer is not a product fantasy. The answer is a smaller architecture or a later date.
Who this is for
- Professionals who want a more substantial additional-income business
- People ready to productise experience into a priced offer
What you leave with
Architect a side business around fewer, dearer packages aimed at £3,000 extra—budgeted buyers and delivery load included—not a £1,000 essay with the number swapped.
One-to-one with the founder. Start with an idea — or with none. Typically 4–6 weeks after direction is approved. Income goals are ambitions, not guarantees. We help you build a credible business ready to reach customers—not promise specific earnings.
Common questions
Do you guarantee £3,000 a month?
No. Income figures on this site are ambitions used to design the offer. Results depend on the market, your delivery and whether customers buy.
How is making £3,000 a month from a side business different from £1,000 extra?
It needs a budgeted buyer and fewer, dearer packages—often around £1,000 each—not more of the cheap £250 work. Delivery is denser and the sales cycle thicker. We design that £3,000 side-business architecture with you. We do not pledge the monthly total.
Will anyone pay £1,000 for a side-business package aimed at £3,000 extra?
Some organisations already spend that on contractors and missed quarters. Peers on your salary often will not. If we cannot name a budgeted buyer in the Launch Plan, we will not theatre a premium price for a £3,000 side-business architecture.
Can I hit £3,000 a month extra with a product instead of a service?
Not as the first vehicle. At this level buyers pay for judgement in a tight window. Productise later if the sprint repeats. We will not build a course library as a shortcut to £3,000 a month extra, and we do not forecast that figure.
