Skills

Turn a skill into a business customers can actually buy

A skill becomes a business when someone will pay for a defined outcome. We help you choose the customer, shape the offer and build what you need to sell it.

We build operational businesses. Start the Launch Plan — £295 — with an idea, a skill, an interest, or none.

No polished pitch needed · No payment until you choose to book

Many people can describe what they are good at. Fewer can name who pays, what the package is, and how the first customer arrives.

That is the work: commercial offer, then a lean operational build so the skill can generate additional income.

A skill becomes a business when a specific buyer will pay for a defined outcome, not when you are ‘good at something’. Capability is the raw material. Packaging is the work. Most people can describe what they do inside an employer. Fewer can name who pays independently, what the package includes, and how the first customer arrives without a referral from a former colleague. That gap is commercial, not creative. The Launch Plan at £295 pressure-tests the skill against a buyer, a price and the hours you actually have. If you continue within 14 days, the operational build is £2,495 with that fee credited. Typical delivery is four to six weeks after you approve the direction. Extra income is the aim. It is not guaranteed.

Turning a skill into a business is different from turning an interest into one. Skill is capability you can already deliver. Interest is curiosity that may or may not map to a paying problem. We start from competence: the work you have done, the mistakes you can prevent, the judgement a buyer would hire. You can still arrive with no packaged offer. You cannot arrive expecting us to monetise a hobby you cannot perform to a professional standard. Billed in GBP. Founder-led. Formation and tax remain yours.

Name the buyer before you name the brand

A skill becomes sellable when a specific person has a problem you can fix at a price they accept. We decide that with you, then we build the business around it.

We build the vehicle. You already have the capability.

Website, journey, payments, workspace — typically 4–6 weeks after direction is approved. If you do not yet have an idea, the skill is enough to start.

Which skills actually turn into a business people will pay for

The useful skills are specific and already trusted. ‘I am organised’ is not a skill a buyer purchases. ‘I can stand up a finance process for a 12-person professional firm’ might be. We look for problems you have already solved, language buyers already use, and delivery you can repeat without a six-month ramp. If the skill only works with your current employer’s tools, data or brand, it is not yet yours to sell. That is a boundary, not a slight.

Hours matter as much as talent. A skill that only works as a 40-hour engagement will not survive beside a job. We scope a package you can deliver in the diary you have — often evenings and a defined number of hours a week. Buyers still expect a professional presence. They do not discount because you have a day job. The site and the journey have to look like a business, not a side note on LinkedIn.

From skill to a priced offer, before anyone designs a logo

Name the buyer. Name the problem in their language. Name what is in the package and what is not. Name a price you can say without flinching. That is the offer. Until those four things exist, a brand is decoration. The Opportunity Decision Brief records them so you are not improvising the pitch every time someone asks what you do. Weak offers get challenged in the session, not after you have paid for photography.

If the skill should be a consultancy, a coaching practice, an agency package or a course, we will say so. Those are different delivery models. Forcing a course onto a skill that only works live is a common waste. The Launch Plan exists to pick the vehicle, not to flatter the one you saw in an advert. You still own the decision. We will not assign a random niche to make the call feel decisive.

Building the vehicle around the skill you already have

Once the direction is approved, we build brand, website, customer journey and payments around that offer. Typically four to six weeks. You work with Joshua, not a rotating junior bench. The skill does not change in that window. The way a stranger can buy it does. A live enquiry or checkout path is the difference between a capability and a business. Unpaid advice at dinner is not a launch. Capability without a buyer is still unpaid overtime under a nicer name.

You operate after go-live. We are not your delivery staff and we do not take a share of invoices. A 30-day support period covers the operational handoff, not a promise of a client pipeline. If your employment contract restricts outside work, check it before you market. We can keep the commercial boundaries explicit. Legal advice stays with you. We will not monetise a hobby you cannot perform to a professional standard just because you are good at your job.

When the skill is real but the business should not be built yet

Some skills are genuine and still not a business this year: no reachable buyer, no price that is worth your evenings, or a delivery model that only works if you resign next month when you will not. Saying so is part of the service. You keep the brief. There is no obligation to continue into the £2,495 build. Spending on a shopfront to soothe the feeling that you ‘should be using your talent’ is how people waste a winter.

If the case holds, continue. The £295 credits toward the total within 14 days. Extra income from a skill is a serious aim for UK professionals who have only ever been paid by an employer. It is not a lottery ticket. We do not publish earnings ranges. We build a credible vehicle you can run. Packaging a skill means a package, a price and a next step — not a talent-show origin story.

Who this is for

  • People with a practical or professional skill
  • Specialists who have only ever delivered inside an employer

What you leave with

A skill packaged as a priced offer a defined buyer can purchase — then a live site and journey if you continue, without pretending talent invoices itself.

One-to-one with the founder. Start with an idea — or with none. Typically 4–6 weeks after direction is approved. Income goals are ambitions, not guarantees. We help you build a credible business ready to reach customers—not promise specific earnings.

Common questions

Do I need a unique skill to turn it into a business?

You need a skill a defined buyer will pay for, delivered at a standard you can stand behind. Uniqueness is overrated. Fit, price and a way to get found matter more. We shape that with you. Earnings are not guaranteed.

What if I have several skills and cannot choose?

The Launch Plan compares candidates against buyer, hours and first-customer path. We recommend one direction in writing. You still decide. Spreading three vague offers across one site is how nothing sells. If several skills compete, we cut to the one a stranger would pay for in the hours you have.

Is this the same as selling my expertise?

Close, but skill is the capability; expertise is the judgement buyers hire. Many offers mix both. This page starts from what you can already do. Packaging and the operational build are the same sequence if the case holds. The operational build is the vehicle around the skill. The skill itself does not change in four to six weeks.
