If AI takes your job, the useful response is a slice of work a human still pays a human for: a messy exception, a regulated conversation, a local relationship, a delivery slot the model cannot attend. You can arrive with that slice named, or with no idea at all. We develop or strengthen it with you, one-to-one.

If the profession is filling with copilots, the remaining paid work is often the exception: the messy case, the conversation that needs a human, the last-mile judgement. That remainder is the extra-income slice we package with you. Then we build a professional presence around it.

Training budgets will be spent on tools. That does not make you a vendor. Vendors have a buyer who is not their HR department. In the session we name that buyer in a sentence a stranger understands. Idea or no idea. Then we build.

Read the employment contract before you moonlight. Some roles restrict outside work. We are not an employment lawyer. We will still refuse to use confidential material. If the only commercial idea requires the employer’s data, we look for an adjacent artefact you can sell cleanly.

Employment disappearing is not the same as having a customer

A redundancy rumour, a hiring freeze, or a Copilot rollout can feel like the end of the profession. It is the end of a particular paid task, not automatically the start of demand for you. Demand is a named buyer with a named problem who will pay in pounds. Until that exists, ‘I’ll go freelance with AI’ is unemployment with better software.

We write the buyer down. If we cannot, the brief should tell you to stay employable and stop spending on a brand. That is still a commercial result.

What the model cannot own: the downside of your Tuesday

Tools do not live with your mortgage, your contract, or the colleague who would still refer you. They generate options with equal confidence. Confidence is not judgement. Judgement is which offer you can deliver after work without using your employer’s confidential material.

The extra-income businesses that survive automation are usually boring: cleanup, diagnostics, a defined artefact, a relationship. Boring is reachable. ‘AI agency’ as a personality is how people launch the same site as everyone in the thread.

A hedge is a live offer, not a prompt library

A hedge you can invoice is a professional presence and a journey that can take an enquiry or a payment. A folder of prompts is a hobby. We build the former. You still show up to deliver. We are not your staff and we do not take a revenue share.

If the honest hours are three evenings, the offer must fit three evenings. An AI-flavoured product that needs weekday sales calls you will miss is not a hedge. It is another job you will fail.

Do not resign into a generated idea

Quitting because a demo scared you is how people burn runway on a concept nobody chose. Keep the job if the contract allows it. Check the contract. Do not use employer data. Then begin the profile.

A copilot at work is not a customer you own

Employers will keep buying tools. That does not transfer the customer relationship to you. The hedge is a buyer who pays you directly for an artefact the employer is not selling. If the only buyer you can name is the employer, you do not have a hedge. You have a side task.

Feeds will tell you a wrapper around a model replaces a salary in ninety days. That is a sales story. Extra income that can exist is usually a human-owned exception sold at a professional price. We keep the job in the design while we build that exception with you.

Should I quit if AI is coming for my role?

Not into a blank page. Keep the salary while we test whether a scoped extra-income offer can exist. Resigning first is how people fund a website with no buyer.

Will you build me an AI business to replace my job?

No. We may use tools in production. We sell direction and an operational extra-income vehicle: offer, site, journey. We do not sell a model that prints a salary. No income figure is promised.

Should I learn more AI instead of starting a business?

Learn enough to stay employable if that is the honest short-term move. Learning more tools is not the same as owning a customer. We only sell the second.
